Helpful Tip: Academic years run from July 1st to June 30th.
Beginning with the current academic year FAFSA, each contributor (student and parents of dependent students) will complete their own section of the form. The FAFSA form is organized by contributor, each section consisting of a group of questions and instructions pertaining to that contributor (student or parent). Thanks to a partnership with the IRS, students and parents can automatically transfer necessary tax information into the current academic year FAFSA form. Please try to utilize this as it is the fastest, most accurate way to enter your tax return information into the FAFSA form. Dependency guidelines for the FAFSA form are determined by the U.S. Congress and are different from the IRS dependency guidelines. Be sure to answer the dependency status questions. If you are considered a dependent student and do not provide parent information, we cannot process your FAFSA form. Read each definition and each question carefully!
Completion of the following items is required during the
admissions process before proceeding to the enrollment process.
Please complete the following steps in this order. It is HIGHLY recommended to complete all three of these steps at once.
· Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at
https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
Use Lenape’s Title IV code: 016100.
Be sure to complete the current school year FAFSA (if you are unsure of the current school year, please do not hesitate to ask).
DO NOT apply for the PA State Grant.
You will apply for PA Target Industry Program (PA TIP) 60 days into school.
Once your FASFA has been processed and no corrections are needed, complete entrance counseling before you start school. The student loan borrower is required to complete Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling before receiving student loan funds.
Direct Loan Entrance Counseling is completed at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing
Compete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing
Federal Direct Student Loans are loans that must be repaid to the Federal Direct Loan Program. Direct Loans have a fixed interest rate that differs depending on the loan type and other factors.
Direct Subsidized Loans are for students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by federal regulations. No interest is charged while a student is enrolled at least half-time, during the six (6) month grace period and during deferment periods. Direct Unsubsidized Loans are not based on financial need; interest is charged during all periods. Contact the financial aid office or the Direct Loan Servicing Center for details and current interest rate information. Federal Direct Student Loan repayment begins six (6) months after the student graduates, leave school, or drops below half-time enrollment.
Complete this form when the above three things are completed
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for each academic year. To start with, this is the only application you need to fill out. Our Financial Aid Officer will meet with you prior to the start of school to determine whether you should pursue any other programs.
If your plans change after completing the above steps and you do not plan on attending the Lenape Technical School Practical Nursing Program, please contact our Financial Aid Officer immediately.
